Zombie from Zion

I went to a Lutheran school before graduating to a public high school.  Because of this, I spent a lot of time in church.  A lot.
We had chapel every Wednesday.  When we had music class we would end up practicing in the church, sometimes in the pews and sometimes up in the balcony.
I loved my first church.  It was a bit modern as far as design with beyond cathedral ceilings.  Behind an enormous piece of wood carved into a cross with the likeness of Christ carved into it was an entire wall of stained glass heralding God.  It was beautiful and still is.
I was baptized beneath that stained glass.  I was also confirmed, graduated, and married beneath it.  Four of my 7 children were also baptized beneath it.  Our first son was baptized in the gym because it was extremely hot that year and the gym was air conditioned and the church was not.  My two youngest were baptized in a completely different church.
I'm remembering those days today as I sit at work listening to a contemporary Christian radio station.  Although my first church was red hymnal through and through, my new church is not and I have to say, I like the music I'm listening to.  With T.V. shows like The Walking Dead, I find it funny that I was a zombie before zombie's were "in".
There were only two schools in my small rural community: Zion and the public school.  The kids who went to Zion were called Zion Zombie's and the public school kids were Public Pukers or Pukies.  We were rivals until graduating into high school where we all came together.
Anyway, it's the music I'm enjoying while I wait for closing.  There's so much truth in the words.  They lyrics put a smile on my face and sometimes tears in my eyes.  The best part, for me, is the reminder that I don't have to be strong all the time.  Nor do I have to have the answers today or tomorrow, those will come in due time.  And most importantly I am never, ever alone.  The love of my Savior has been with me while I was just being brought to Him in my very first church and I have taken it with me to the new church that I now call home.  It is never ending.  Isn't is crazy how you can get all that from a song?
