Goshen Farm Open House Attracts Crowd to See History, Progress
The open house allowed visitors to tour the property and see the progress of the Goshen Farm Preservation Society.
The (GFPS) had a beautiful fall-like day for their on Saturday, when visitors had the opportunity to tour the property and see the progress made to improve it.
The Goshen Farm property encompasses roughly 22 acres behind the soccer fields at . When open, Goshen Farm is accessible by the driveway on Cape. St. Claire Road next to the “horse barn,” or by trail behind the school ball field. During the open house, Boy Scouts helped show visitors the way to go and assisted with parking coordination.
On the property stands a , a community garden, a caretaker’s cottage, several other outbuildings, a community garden and a self-guided historical walking trail.

During the open house, visitors toured the property, enjoyed complimentary refreshments and talked with GFPS members, who provided interesting historical accounts about the property and the people who once lived there. GFPS also recruited several new members, which is vital to keeping the property improvement going and meeting their matching requirements for grants.
Other fundraiser items for sale included Goshen Farm T-shirts, books, stink bug traps and hydrangea plants that were cultivated from the enormous and beautiful hydrangea in front of the farmhouse.

Many visitors expressed that they were impressed with how big the property looked and how well it had been maintained by the GFPS.
The next GFPS event is their third annual Halloween Ball, which will be held at the Cape St. Claire Clubhouse. There will be music, entertainment, a silent auction, food, drinks and a costume contest. All proceeds go directly to the restoration of Goshen Farm.
