FREE EVENT FOR EVERYONE!

Join Bhante Pannakara, lead monk of the Walk for Peace and the GWU Buddhist Chaplain, Bhante Khema, for a quiet morning of guided meditation and reflection in the heart of Washington, D.C.

Whether you have never meditated before or you sit every day, you are welcome to join.

All of our meditation programs are designed for everyone to participate, regardless of belief system, faith, or knowledge.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Three to four short, beginner-friendly, guided meditations
  • Quiet reflection and mindfulness 
  • A simple explanation of the "Why and How" behind each practice.

Only 175 meditation cushions are available on a first-come-first serve basis. Arrive early!!

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Comfortable clothing
  • A (meditation) cushion, yoga mat, or small folding chair, to ensure you have a comfortable experience. 

NEAREST METRO STATIONS:

  • Foggy Bottom-GWU (~0.6 miles / 12–15 min walk): Closest overall option. Serves the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines.
  • Farragut West (~0.7 miles / 15 min walk): Serves the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines.
  • Smithsonian (~0.9 miles / 18–20 min walk): Good option if coming from the east/National Mall side (Blue, Orange, Silver lines).
