CCBC-Catonsville Names Zopp Head Lacrosse Coach

CCBC-Essex alum Bill Zopp selected to take over for former head coach Glen Wingrove.

In search of the right person to lead its lacrosse program into the 2012 spring season, CCBC-Catonsville tabbed one of its own to fill the void. Well, sort of.

Bill Zopp, an alumnus of the CCBC-Essex lacrosse program, was named head coach on Friday, replacing former lead man Glen Wingrove who coached the Cardinals over the past six seasons.

For the past three years, Zopp presided over a Baltimore Lutheran School squad that compiled a 44-7 record and captured three MIAA C Conference championships. Zopp’s 2011 team went a perfect 16-0.

Prior to his accomplishments on the high school level, Zopp served as an assistant coach at CCBC-Essex from 2001 through 2007—teams that went to six National Junior College Athletic Association championships over that time period and won it all in 2004.

In addition to his playing career at CCBC-Essex, Zopp also spent time at Greensboro College (North Carolina) and is the schools seventh all-time leading scorer.
