
Public Meeting Set to Begin Next Phase for Patapsco Valley’s Heritage Area Designation
The public is invited to “Continue on the Journey” with the Patapsco Heritage Greenway, Thursday, January 30 as the group takes the next step toward certification of the Patapsco Valley as a Maryland Heritage Area. The meeting will take place at 7pm at the Roger Carter Neighborhood Center, 3000 Milltowne Drive, Ellicott City.

The meeting will inform and continue the active involvement of the Valley’s surrounding communities while providing an opportunity for individuals to influence the direction of this important endeavor to sustain one of Maryland’s most significant natural and cultural resources.
Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the consulting team that will guide the certification process forward. Comprised of Elizabeth Clarke (prime contractor), Mike Clarke (subcontractor), and Kelley Ream from Wallace, Roberts & Todd (subcontractor), the group delivers a wealth of combined expertise and experience to the project. In addition to the introduction of the consulting team, there will be an overview and discussion of the following questions, the answers to which are critical to the development of the certification process’ required management plan.
- What are the Valley’s areas of significance?
- Why is the inventory and analysis of the Valley’s resources critical to the plan?
- Why is a Heritage Area boundary needed?
