River Herring Spotted + Catonsville Students Honored

Welcome to the Catonsville Daily! This is your source for everything going on in Catonsville.

(Patch Media)

Good day, people of Catonsville! Madison Feser here with a fresh issue of the Catonsville Daily. News might be a little slow today, but there are plenty of events to keep you busy this Tuesday night.

First, today's weather: Humid and partly cloudy throughout the day. High: 94 Low: 76.

Here are the top stories in Catonsville today:

  1. For the first time since the Bloede Dam was built, river herring have been spotted in the Patapsco River. The dam was built in 1906–1907 to supply electricity to Catonsville and Ellicott City. The discovery of river herring is exciting because, until about three years ago, the dam prevented certain species of fish from spawning. This could be a sign the river herring is making a comeback. (Chesapeake Bay Magazine)
  2. Gabrielle Berryman, Grace Dillingham, Annabelle Dunigan, Camryn Gentner, Hayden Kesner, Margaret Montgomery-snoke, and Lillian Stein of Catonsville were awarded St. Mary's Scholar academic honors at St. Mary's College of Maryland. (Press Release Desk)
