Western Tech Offense Dominates in First Round Rout
Averaging 40 points per game, Wolverines race to 50-12 win over Sparrows Point

On the game's third play from scrimmage, senior running back Kane Parson busted off left tackle, headed down the Sparrows Point sideline and scored from 29 yards to put Western Tech on the board, 6-0. When the extra point kick went through the uprights, the Wolverine's high-powered attack was officially revved up.
Facing third and nine on their next possession, quarterback Juleon Killikelly-Lee hit Carlton Harris on a 69-yard touchdown pass. On their third possession, Kane again took a handoff up the middle before bouncing outside, scoring from 14 yards and giving the Wolverines a 21-0 lead shortly into the second quarter.
Western Tech rolled to the school's second-ever football playoff victory Friday night at the Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville with a 50-12 win over Sparrows Point (6-5) in 1A North Region semifinal.

The Wolverines (11-0) now face Brunswick (10-1), from Frederick County, who shut out New Town, 42-0. That game is scheduled for this Friday at CCBC-Catonsville at 7 p.m.
Western Tech stumbled briefly against Sparrows Point. Late in the second quarter, they fumbled deep in their own end, leading to a short touchdown run by halfback Derek Masters.

Then, they failed to recover the ensuing kickoff, eventually setting up a touchdown run by Sparrows Point quarterback Justin Gensicki. Suddenly, with 4:17 to play before halftime, Western Tech's lead had been cut to 21-12. The contest did not remain close for long, however.
After recovering an onside kick attempt, Kane took a handoff on the next play and scored his third touchdown. Then, Western Tech picked off a pass on the Pointers subsequent possession. Killikelly-Lee immediately found Javon Jagroop in the end zone, and in less than a minute, Western Tech was again back on top by four touchdowns, 35-12.
"We couldn't stop them," Sparrows Point coach Glenn Imirie said. "We didn't have an answer."
During the regular season in the season, Western Tech downed Sparrows 33-7, effectively utilizing their superior speed and taking their option game outside.
In the rematch, Sparrows Point loaded up on the ends defensively, but left the inside open. Western Tech's offensive linemen continually got blocks on the Pointers' linebackers, freeing up Kane inside.
Getting looks from Division I college programs, according to head coach Alan Lagon, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound Kane scored his fourth touchdown on another long run for a 41-12 lead. If there had been any doubts remaining about the outcome of the game, they had been dismissed at the start of the third quarter.
"I wasn't too worried after they scored," Lagon said. "We made mistakes and they capitalized. Sparrows Point is a good football team and that's what good football teams do. But I knew we could score, we averaged more than 40 points per game."
