Where To Celebrate Record Store Day This Weekend

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Record Store Day is around the corner, with several shops expected to take part in festivities this weekend.

This year's Record Store Day will be held Saturday, April 18.

The annual celebration dates back to 2007, when independent record store owners and employees came together to highlight the role record stores play in communities.

Throughout the years, a variety of musicians have used the day to hold meet-and-greets with fans, similar to what Metallica did in 2008 in San Francisco with the very first Record Store Day.

The day includes nationwide and international events, with many shops offering special deals on vinyl goodies.

Every year also brings an honorary Record Store Day ambassador. For 2026, musician Bruno Mars is taking the reins.

"Independent record stores are so important because you get the chance to immerse and surround yourself with music," Mars said in a release. "I love collecting vinyl because nothing is better than sitting on your couch putting on a record and just listening to music like that."

Previous ambassadors include Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, Brandi Carlile and Taylor Swift, among other artists.
