Aviation Museum offers new guided tours on 2nd Saturdays

Guided tour this Saturday at College Park Aviation Museum!

The College Park Aviation Museum is launching a new series of programming beginning this Saturday, January 10. “Mornings at the Museum” is a guided tour of the museum focusing on a specific topic with a different focus each month. The tour, designed for adults, is offered the second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m. and is led by a museum staff member. The tour is FREE with museum admission: $4/adults; $3/seniors. January’s tour focuses on changes in aviation transportation over the past 100 years. Airplanes, images and artifacts on display in the museum’s main gallery will be utilized to tell the story of aviation’s evolution since the Wright Brothers taught America’s first military pilots how to fly at the College Park Airport.

The College Park Aviation Museum tells the story of the nation’s oldest, continually operating airport. With numerous aircraft on display, flight simulators, interactive exhibits, an observation deck overlooking the airport and a museum shop, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The museum is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is approximately a 10 minute walk from the College Park Metro and easily accessible from the Beltway (I-495). For more information, call 301-864-6029 or visit www.CollegeParkAviationMuseum.org

The College Park Aviation Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is owned by The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) which maintains it as both an operating airport and an historic site. The museum is one of numerous historic sites and museums operated by the M-NCPPC Natural and Historical Resources Division. To learn more, visit http://history.pgparks.com
