Council to Discuss Rent Stabilization, Chelsea School Relocation

A discussion about rent stabilization in the city is included on tonight’s College Park Mayor and Council worksession agenda.
The Sage Policy Group, Inc. produced a study in March that found there “remains a rational basis for Rent Stabilization in College Park,” a rent cap law that has encountered . The report from Sage can be found on pages 82 to 93 of the council’s agenda, which accompanies this post.
Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of . Anyone who wishes to attend can pick up a free parking pass on the first floor. The meeting will also be live streamed and archived on the city’s website.

- Council could share desired amendments for the , which is scheduled for adoption at the May 22 meeting.
- Council will review a draft Property Use Agreement for Lime Fresh Mexican Grill, set to open in the old Lime Fresh also seeks a new Class B, BLX, Beer, Wine and Liquor License. (Pages 68 to 70 of the council agenda include a menu for Lime Fresh.)
- The Chelsea School, a private school in Silver Spring, is interested in relocating to 4700 Berwyn House Road, according to a letter from an attorney who represents the school. for its proposed College Park Charter School, which is currently going through the approval process.
- The new president and senior staff for the Student Government Association, 2012-2013, will be introduced at Tuesday’s meeting.
- Lakeland Trustees are seeking approvals from the council that would allow for the construction of an addition to the church, located at 5101 Lakeland Road. Staff is recommending approval with conditions.
- Council will consider a letter of support for and intent to participate in the Green Infrastructure Master Plan Coordination and Implementation for the Anacostia River Watershed proposal to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Local Government Assistance Program.
