Former Terp Williams Plays No Role in NJ Nets Win

Former Terp Jordan Williams was less than impressive in his debut with the New Jersey Nets, CSNWashington.com reported.

After months of an NBA lockout, it was unclear whether former Terp forward Jordan Williams would have the opportunity to play for the New Jersey Nets.

But with the lockout ending in November, not only did Williams get to debut, but he played his first pro ball game at the Verizon Center versus the Washington Wizards, a stone’s throw from the University of Maryland’s Comcast Center.

Too bad he blew it, CSNWashington.com reported.

Williams, who appeared to have packed on some pounds, didn’t contribute to the Nets’ 90-84 win, wrote reporter Benjamin Standig.

After the game, Williams tweeted “Great team win!!! Proud of my squad!!” but didn't tweet anything about his own performance.

Williams missed summer league because of the lockout, when rookies learn terminology and play their way into shape, Standig reported, adding that Williams also missed training camp due to dehydration.

After completing his sophomore season with the Terps, he was the Nets’ second-round draft pick. During the uncertainty of the lockout, he signed with a team in Poland, the New York Daily News reported in November.

It was days after Williams signed in Poland that the lockout ended. Check out SB Nation for a full timeline of the 149-day lockout, featuring “tons of twists, turns and ridiculous behavior by all involved.”
