JTCC Family Field Day

The Junior Tennis Champions Center hosted their annual Family field Day Event. Games, Food, Music and Fun for all

Field Day at The Junior Tennis Champions Center School was a family affair for matriarch Ana Hein and her son.
Both generations of the family had a hand in Thursday's school-wide celebration, serving as volunteer and participant, respectively.

"We just always have loved the idea of a Field Day," Ana Hein said in between helping staff Field Day stations and prepare the staff appreciation lunch. "We started looking forward to it in January and hoping the weather was going to be nice on our day, and that's all we hoped for all spring."

"It's just fun being here and being part of what the children are doing, plus I get to spend time with my son, his friends and co-workers," Hein added.

Field Day is a big deal at the JTCC, explained parent volunteer Michael Scotty, who helped plan the event. Scotty was an active member behind the event, arranging and planning out the 11 different games, which filled 6 stations that the teams rotated through.

"This is a celebration day for the entire school year," Scotty said. "The students have been looking forward to this for some time. It is a chance for members of the school, the coaches and the staff to come together for a community building activity.“

The Perez family takes Field Day just as seriously as The Scottys. Mike Perez rescheduled his international travel plans with his son, Brandon, so Brandon could participate, and he and his wife could volunteer.

For Brandon, field day feels like a mashup of school, tennis and a neighborhood cookout."It's a lot of fun, combining school, friends and family," he said.

“College Park is a place where we can get some of the best tennis training in the world and get a quality educational experience. I have made great memories in my short time here and I am excited for the future," Brandon
said.
