Metro Bus Strikes Pedestrian Near UMd.

The pedestrian sustained minor leg injury.

The Gazette has reported that the pedestrian who was struck Monday morning by a Metro bus was a 19-year-old riding a bike. It is unclear whether or not he is a student of the University of Maryland, The Gazette reported.

Metro media relations office has not yet returned a call to Patch.

A Metro bus struck a pedestrian Monday morning near the University of Maryland, according to county police.

The incident happened before 8:53 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Paint Branch Parkway, according to Cpl. Mike Rodriguez of the Prince George's County Police.

The pedestrian sustained a minor leg injury, Rodriguez said, and he was transported for treatment.

The incident is under investigation. A Metro spokesman could not be immediately contacted.
