UPDATED: Police Arrest Juvenile Connected to Cell Phone Theft
The 15-year-old Suitland area man is charged with robbery, second-degree assault and theft.

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy from the Suitland area Monday in connection with the cell-phone snatching incident that occurred on the campus last week, according a police statement.
The suspect approached a female UMd. student on Jan. 29, who was walking on the McKeldin Mall, and took her cell phone out of her hand by force, according to a UMd. Police alert.

The juvenile is charged with robbery, second-degree assault and theft under $1,000, according to the statement.
He was released to his parents, police said.

Police have obtained video and photos of a man they believe stole a cell phone from a female student while on campus.
Anyone who has had contact with, or who has information about the identity of the person shown in the video or photos is asked to contact University of Maryland Police investigators at 301-405-6871 or at investigators@umpd.umd.edu.
At approximately 7:26 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, a female student was walking on McKeldin Mall, when she was approached from behind by an unknown male who grabbed her cell phone out of her hand, according to a UMd. Police alert.
Police said the male then fled toward the Chincoteague building, according to the alert. The suspect was followed by four males who witnessed the crime. Police would like these individuals to contact detectives at 301-405-3555 or email investigations@umpd.umd.edu.
