Terp Soccer Team Out in Third Round of NCAA Championships
Senior Casey Townsend finishes season with a team-high 17 goals.

The University of Maryland men’s soccer team was knocked out of the NCAA tournament after the University of Louisville won Sunday, 4-2.
The 12th-seeded Louisville team upset fifth-seeded Maryland for the chance to move on to the quarterfinals.
“They're much better than their seed and much better than their record,” Terps coach Sasho Cirovski said of the Louisville team, according to a UMd. press release.

Down 1-0 in the 34th minute of play, sophomore Patrick Mullins fed a pass to senior Casey Townsend to tie the game.
Six minutes into the second half, Louisville pulled ahead again, 2-1. Senior Matt Oduaran tied the game again with a goal in the 68th minute.

But after the Cardinals' Colin Rolfe provided his second and third assists of the night to put Louisville ahead 4-2, Maryland never got back within striking distance of the win.
Townsend moved into a tie for third on Maryland's all-time scoring list, and is also tied for sixth for single-season scoring with 17 goals.
The Terps end their season with a 14-4-3 overall record, their 18th consecutive winning season — success that led to a major boost in attendance at Ludwig Field, .
