12-Year-Old Boy Stabbed in Columbia by Savage Man: Police

A 51-year-old Savage man allegedly knifed a boy on Dobbin Road Thursday afternoon, Howard County said.

COLUMBIA, MD — A Savage man is charged with assault and other offenses after police allege he stabbed a 12-year-old boy on Dobbin Road.

The boy and an adult relative were standing near the 6300 block of Dobbin Road when they got into an argument with an acquaintance around 1:40 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, according to police.

The acquaintance allegedly stabbed the 12-year-old with a knife, police reported. The boy was taken to Howard County General Hospital for treatment of injuries that the Howard County Police Department said were minor.

Andris Gertson, 51, of the 9700 block of Baltimore Street in Savage, was arrested and charged with first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

According to court records, Gertson was being held on $100,000 bail and was slated to appear for a preliminary hearing in Howard County District Court on Nov. 17.
