3 Columbia Restaurants Up For State Awards

Three restaurants that have locations in Columbia are among those competing for awards from the Restaurant Association of Maryland.

COLUMBIA, MD — Three restaurants that have presence in Columbia are up for state recognition. They have been nominated for "Maryland's favorite restaurant" and "favorite fast casual restaurant" in the Restaurant Association of Maryland's Stars of the Industry Awards.

In the "favorite restaurant" category, Clyde's and Texas Roadhouse are among the nominees.

Clyde's, which operates a handful of restaurants in the greater DC area, has a location along the Columbia lakefront as well as in Chevy Chase and Rockville. The Columbia restaurant opened in 1975 and was the second Clyde's, after the original started in Georgetown.

Texas Roadhouse has a presence at 8820 Stanford Boulevard in Columbia. It is one of nine in Maryland and more than 400 nationwide.

Competing against Clyde's and Texas Roadhouse for "Maryland's favorite restaurant" are these nominees: Cantler's Riverside Inn in Annapolis, Steak and Main in North East and Thames Street Oyster House in Baltimore.

In the "favorite fast casual restaurant" category, Shake Shack is among the contenders. It has a presence in Columbia, Baltimore, Potomac and National Harbor. Shake Shack is located near the open-air wing of The Mall in Columbia; it opened in December 2017 in the space where Champps used to be.

Other nominees in the favorite fast casual restaurant category are California Tortilla, Moby Dick House of Kabob, THB Neighborhood Bagelry & Deli and Urban Bar-B-Que.
