20-Year-Old Man Arrested In Stabbing Of Elderly Woman: Police
The 80-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck while walking along a trail in Columbia Sept. 9 at approximately 6:35 a.m.
COLUMBIA, MD — A 20-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment in the stabbing of an elderly woman on a Columbia walking trail last week. Traquan Malik Waller, of no fixed address, stabbed the woman in the neck Sept. 9 at approximately 6:35 a.m. while she was walking in the 7000 block of Cradlerock Way.
Waller has been hospitalized on an unrelated issue and will be detained at that facility until he can be discharged and transported to booking. According to the Howard County Police Department, Waller's clothing matched the description of the suspect and police. Officers also located a knife at the scene.
Detectives stated in a release that they believe this was a random act with no motive. Waller did not say anything to the victim or take anything from her, police noted.
