3 Charged In Columbia Robbery, Theft Cases: HoCo Police

A burglar who came into contact with a resident was among the latest crime reports out of Columbia, Howard County police said.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Columbia. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

A resident confronted a burglar in the 8400 block of Majors Lane. The suspect kicked in the victim's front door and went inside at 9:01 p.m. on March 1. When the resident confronted him, the suspect fled. Nothing was taken. The suspect was described as a black man who was 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inch tall with below-the-shoulder dreadlocks. He was wearing all black with brown boots at the time of the burglary.

A 25-year-old Columbia man from the 9100 block of Flamepool Way was arrested after police responded to a report of a person suspected of looking into vehicles in Ellicott City. Police allegedly found cash, pocket knives, sunglasses and gift cards on and near the suspect in the 8500 block of Pine Run Court at 5:57 a.m. on Feb. 28. After determining the items had been taken from vehicles, police arrested the Columbia man. He was charged with two counts of rogue and vagabond and two counts of theft less than $100.

Two men were arrested in connection with a Jan. 21 robbery in the 6000 block of Majors Lane. In the robbery, the victim said an acquaintance and two other men approached, then one suspect showed a handgun and stole the victim's wallet. A 25-year-old from District Heights was charged with 10 offenses: armed robbery; robbery; first and second-degree assault; theft less than $100; using a firearm in a felony; having a firearm with a felony conviction; having a handgun on his person; illegal possession of ammo; and illegal possession of a firearm. An 18-year-old Columbia man from the 4900 block of Blue Wing Court was charged with nine offenses: first-degree assault; conspiracy to commit first-degree assault; armed robbery; conspiracy to commit armed robbery; robbery; conspiracy to commit robbery; second-degree assault; theft less than $1,000; and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
