BREAKING: 3 Columbia Schools Without Power on Friday

A power outage has struck more than 1,300 customers in Howard County, according to BGE.

COLUMBIA, MD — Three schools in Columbia were experiencing power outages Friday morning, according to an announcement from the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS).

"At this time Oakland Mills High School, Oakland Mills Middle School and Stevens Forest Elementary School are without power," HCPSS said in a statement.

There were 1,386 customers experiencing outages as of 11 a.m. in Howard County, according to BGE.

BGE is working to resolve the problem, officials said. The utility company's estimated restoration time for the outage, which is subject to change, was 12:45 p.m. to 1 p.m.

"We have made arrangements and schedule modifications for all students to receive their hot lunch," according to HCPSS.
