3 HCPSS Students Earn Top Awards At State Literacy Contest
The State of Maryland Literacy Association's 2021 contest honors the best young adult poets and storytellers in MD, including 3 from HoCo.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Three HCPSS high school students recently won top awards at the State of Maryland Literacy Association’s 2021 contest. This honor recognizes some of the best young adult poets and storytellers in the state of Maryland.
The following students were recognized for their writing:
- Shoshanah Hornum, Wilde Lake High School, first place in poetry for Grade 12;
- Jolani Santos Leon, Long Reach High School, second place winner in poetry for Grade 9; and
- Claire Fagan, River Hill High School, second place winner in the short story category for Grade 10.
Hornum, Leon and Fagan were recognized for their honor at the April 29 HCPSS Board of Education meeting.
