3 House Fires in Columbia Reported This Weekend: Howard County Fire Officials

Crews were called to three fires in two days in Columbia.

COLUMBIA, MD — Firefighters battled a balcony blaze on Hickory Ridge Road in Columbia Sunday night, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

What was reported as a house fire on Hickory Ridge Road before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday turned out to be a small fire on the balcony.

Crews made quick work of the situation and were planning to clear the scene shortly after 9:30 p.m.

It's the third fire in two days that first responders were called to in Columbia and the fourth in the county, officials reported.

Around noon on Saturday, crews responded to two reports of house fires in Columbia.

By 12:15 p.m., firefighters had cleared the scene on Satinwood Drive in west Columbia.

As of 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, officials said a fire on Kind Rain in Long Reach was under control.

In addition, a structure fire was reported on Sanner Road in Clarksville Sunday around 4:45 p.m.
