58 Vehicles in Columbia Spray-Painted Overnight: Police

There is a reward for information about serial spray-painters, Howard County police say.

Nearly 60 vehicles were spray-painted overnight in Columbia, the Howard County Police Department reported on Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Outside apartments on Stevens Forest Road, police said that 58 vehicles were sprayed with white paint.

Some of the markings were obscenities, while others were not able to be distinguished, police reported.

The words Jack Boys and other random markings were painted on various parts of the vehicles, according to police, who reported in mid January that the same term had been painted on vehicles.

In mid-January, police reported that more than 150 vehicles had been spray-painted in Columbia over the course of a month.

“This latest spree appears to be a continuation of an established trend that began in mid-December 2014,” police reported Wednesday.

“Police do not believe the vandalism to be hate-bias or gang-related,” according to a statement from the Howard County Police Department.

There is a reward of up to $750 for information.
