State and industry leaders say the Howard County site will link Maryland's wood supply chain, support research and innovation, and help bring more Maryland-grown wood into public and private projects.

A Sewage Closure Becomes a Campaign Ad Within the Hour in Howard County (mdbaynews.com) — Families in Columbia saw Guilford Elementary abruptly close on the third day of school because of a sewage problem, and the incident was immediately pulled into the District 9A delegate race. Man Convicted In Fatal Shooting Of Columbia Man (patch.com) — A Howard County jury has convicted Kennard Mekhi White in the December 2023 shooting that killed 18-year-old Jeremiah Isaiah Darden and wounded another young Columbia man in a Woodpark Lane apartment stairwell. Investigators tied White to the Columbia attack through video, phone records, and firearm evidence, and sentencing is set for Nov. 23.

'She was so special': Friends remember Niki Godishala after her suspected murderer is caught (wmar2news.com) — Friends in Columbia are mourning Nikitha "Niki" Godishala while welcoming news that the man accused in her killing has been arrested overseas and faces extradition. 5. 3 Baltimore-area golfers savor hometown shot at U.S. Senior Amateur (foxbaltimore.com) — A Columbia resident, golfer Phil Fairbanks, is teeing it up at the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship at Baltimore Country Club, just up the road. The Howard County native joins two other Baltimore-area players in savoring a rare hometown-stage chance at one of senior golf's biggest amateur events.
