After-Hours Shoplifters At Mall: Columbia Crime
A business burglary, serial tire thief, serious assault and other incidents were reported in Columbia recently, according to police.

COLUMBIA, MD - The Howard County Police Department has provided the following information. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
There was a robbery in Macy's at The Mall in Columbia at 9:15 p.m. on July 10. An employee was in the process of locking up the store for the night when he saw shopping bags with merchandise near the exit. As a man and woman approached the bags, the man threatened the employee and implied he had a gun. Nobody was injured. The suspects were described as a black man with a beard who was 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, about 30 years old and clad in a white jacket, blue jeans, glasses and black boots; and a black woman who was 5 feet 1 inch tall, 100 pounds, about 25 years old, wearing a red shirt, shorts, sneakers and a ball cap.
Four vehicles had all their tires stolen overnight between July 9 and 10. The vehicles were located in the 7000 block of Eden Brook Drive, 7500 block of Monarch Mills Way, 9100 block of Gracious End Court and 9400 block of Birdhouse Circle.

A 2013 Kia Soul was stolen from the 10300 block of Nightmist Court. It had Maryland tags 8BC1132. The theft was reported at 3:41 p.m. on July 10.
A purse was stolen from a home in the 5700 block of Stevens Forest Road. The suspect got in through unknown means at 7:41 a.m. on July 10.

A 2014 Ford Escape was stolen from the 6700 block of Green Mill Way, reported at 4:57 a.m. on July 10. It had Maryland tags 6CL3199.
A man was taken to shock trauma in serious condition after a meetup with an acquaintance that police said may have been drug-related. Two people were arrested, while two others are at large. The victim had agreed to meet an acquaintance in the 10700 block of Clarksville Pike at 6 p.m. on July 9. When he got there, four other men got into the car and assaulted him; one of the suspects had a handgun. The victim was transported to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. A 19-year-old from Columbia and a 21-year-old Jessup man were each charged with four counts of robbery and three counts of assault apiece, while their two accomplices have not yet been identified.
Nine vehicles were broken into and cash was taken in the 9200 block of Perfect Hour, 9300 block of Rustling Leaf and 9200 block of Tunemaker Terrace. The thefts from vehicles were reported at 5:39 a.m. on July 9.
A bicycle was stolen from a garage in the 9200 block of Curtis Drive. The burglary was reported at 5:20 a.m. on July 9.
A 2016 Infiniti QX50 was stolen from the 6600 block of Windsor Court at 4:16 p.m. on July 8. The vehicle had Maryland tags 4CL5482.
There was a break-in at Drama Learning Center in the 9100 block of Red Branch Road. At 11:03 p.m. on July 7, the burglar(s) got inside and stole cash.
There was an attempted burglary in the 11200 block of Snowflake Court between July 5 and July 7. The front door locks were broken, but the suspect(s) did not get into the residence.
