Angela King Joins CarneyKelehan

Prior to joining CarneyKelehan, King was a legal fellow in American University's Office of General Counsel.

COLUMBIA, Md.—Angela King has joined Carney, Kelehan, Bresler, Bennett and Scherr LLP focusing her practice on education law. CarneyKelehan, a law firm based in Columbia, has a preeminent education law practice, having served public school systems throughout Maryland for more than 40 years.

Prior to joining CarneyKelehan, King was a legal fellow in American University’s Office of General Counsel, where she provided legal advice to department representatives throughout the university and, most recently, worked for the Educational Opportunities Section of the U.S. Department of Justice.

King earned her law degree from American University Washington College of Law where she was a student attorney with the Washington College of Law Disability Rights Law Clinic, a law clerk in the Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Education and a legislative intern with DC Appleseed Center for Law and Justice. King also served as a teaching fellow with the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project where she taught constitutional law to middle school students. As a result of her efforts as a teaching fellow, King won the inaugural Amanda C. Howe Award for her commitment to students and public education. She received her bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in philosophy from Rutgers University.

King is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Howard County Bar Association, J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association and the National School Board Association.
