Police said a man died last week from a workplace assault that occurred over the summer; he and a colleague were arguing over parking.

ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, MD — Police said a Severn man was indicted after his co-worker died last week from injuries he got during a fight last summer. The decedent had been in a long-term care facility after the altercation on July 15, 2017, which began over parking spots in Howard County, officials reported.

Byron Darnell Powers, 63, of the 1900 block of Foxhound Court in Severn, has been indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter and second-degree assault, court records show.

Powers and the victim were co-workers in the 11000 block of Guilford Road, police said.

According to officials, Powers hit his co-worker once with his hand when the two had gotten into an argument about where their trucks were parked on July 15, 2017.

Brian Keith Gordon, 47, of Upper Marlboro, fell to the ground after Powers hit him, police said.
