Attempted Robbery At Restaurant: Columbia Crime

Groups of teens were involved in two robberies and one robbery attempt in Columbia in the past several days, according to police.

COLUMBIA, MD — Several robberies were reported in the past five days in Columbia. The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about the cases. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Robbery Attempt Outside Restaurant

Two men were sitting on the back patio of Second Chance Saloon when two people tried to rob them in the 5800 block of Robert Oliver Place. The attempt happened at 1:43 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 6.

Both suspects had their faces partly covered.

One, who acted like he had a weapon, demanded the victims surrender their belongings.

Without taking anything, the suspects left.

The suspects were described as two thin black men:

  • One was between 5-feet-10-inches and 5-feet-11-inches tall and was wearing a red hoodie and shorts.
  • The other was 5-feet-8-inches tall and was wearing a white tank top and shorts.

Girls Arrested In Assault And Robbery

Three girls assaulted and robbed two juveniles in the 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway, which is the address of The Mall in Columbia. The crimes happened at 5:49 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3.

The girls took cash, then ran away.

When police were called, officers located and arrested two girls from Columbia — one 13 and the other 14 years old. Both were charged with assault.

Armed Teens Rob Youths On Pathway

While walking on a pathway in the 5900 block of Gales Lane, two boys were robbed by armed teens.

They took one boy's cell phone, then ran off with a teenage girl. Nobody was injured.

The armed robbery happened at 12:48 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2.

One suspect had a handgun, and the other had a knife.

The suspects were described as follows:

  • Thin black teen boy, 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-9-inches tall, wearing a white shirt and jeans
  • Black teen boy with average build wearing a red shirt
  • Black teen girl with a heavy build and short dreadlocks, wearing a dark-colored shirt and jeans
