Bank Robbed In Columbia, FBI Offers $5K Reward

The Bank of America on Cradlerock Way was robbed by a small man with a note, the FBI said.

COLUMBIA, MD — The FBI is investigating a bank robbery that happened Wednesday afternoon in Columbia. Officials said that the Bank of America at 7170 Cradlerock Way was robbed at 1:13 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10.

The suspect presented a note to the teller announcing the robbery, at which point the teller surrendered cash, according to the FBI.

Authorities said the man left and was last seen running toward a parking lot behind the bank.

The suspect was described as a 5-foot-8 black man of small build in his 20s. He has brown eyes, black hair and a medium complexion, officials said.

At the time of the robbery, he was wearing an olive-colored winter coat, black knit cap, dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white shoes. He also had on black gloves with white markings.

The robbery at Bank of America occurred less than two weeks after another bank robbery at same shopping center. On Dec. 30, a man wearing a safety vest robbed the PNC in the Giant at the Owen Brown Village Center. The photo and description of the suspect in that robbery are of a man of larger stature and build.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 410-265-8080 or submit tips online. There is a reward for up to $5,000 for information.
