Baton Assault, Rita's Burglary, Wegmans Theft: Columbia Crime
Pizza deliveryman robbed, traffic stop leads to pursuit and more crimes were reported out of the Howard County Police Department recently.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Columbia. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
A man was injured in a robbery involving a baton. He was parked in the 8800 block of Hayshed Land when at least two men approached him at 11:30 a.m. on March 27. One suspect showed a baton, both assaulted him and they took his cell phone before leaving. The victim was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
Rita's in the 8600 block of Guilford Road was burglarized between 1:07 and 10:55 a.m. on March 26. The break-in occurred through the front window. Nothing was reported stolen.

A teen with his face partly covered robbed a pizza deliveryman in the 6000 block of Majors Lane at 12:15 a.m. on March 26. The suspect demanded cash and the victim's phone. The deliveryman complied and the suspect left. The suspect was described as a black boy in his early teens who was approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall and 115 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Four people robbed a man outside a condominium complex in the 9000 block of Whiteacre Road at 7:45 p.m. on March 25. The suspects went through the man's pockets and stole cash. The suspects included three men and one woman.

Two people were charged with theft after allegedly stealing from Wegmans in the 8800 block of McGaw Road at 5:02 p.m. on March 25. They were attempting to get away from the store when police arrested them. A 41-year-old Annapolis man and a 39-year-old Glen Burnie man were each charged with theft less than $1,000.
A teen was assaulted and robbed outside a gas station in the 8200 block of Snowden River Parkway at 4:43 a.m. on March 25. The 17-year-old victim was sitting with his friend when four or five suspects in a car approached and asked him for a dollar. When the teen reached for his wallet, he was assaulted and robbed of cash. There were no injuries reported.
Auto Thefts
A 16-year-old was charged with auto theft after police tried to conduct a traffic stop in the 7100 block of Oakland Mills Road and the teen tried to get away in the vehicle, then on foot. The vehicle was stolen and did not have lights on at the time of the incident, which occurred at 10:23 p.m. on March 24. Police found the suspect and arrested the Baltimore teen.
A 2013 black Toyota Corolla with Maryland tag 9CR0365 was reported stolen from the 6400 block of Dobbin Road at 12:19 a.m. on March 27.
A 2009 Honda CBR1000 was stolen from the 5700 block of April Journey Road at 10:30 a.m. on March 26. The license plate was a Maryland tag with 60057Y. The vehicle was black and white.
