The state is currently in the process of designing a plan to remove Bloede Dam, in part to restore native fish populations and to improve public safety, as the Department of Natural Resources reports several deaths have occurred near the dam, which is considered a hazard.

Removal of Bloede Dam will begin in late 2015 and take approximately one year, according to The Baltimore Sun.
