How a Howard County High School Student Helps Newly Arrived Refugee and Immigrant Youth Adjust

Learn how a Howard County high school student is helping immigrant and refugee youth adjust to life in the United States—here in Howard County and across the country.

Roselyn Bi, founder of Tulip’s Promise Foundation, discovered that newly arrived students often receive little or no guidance on adjusting to American schools and culture. In response, she created a student-friendly Welcome Handbook covering the things young people actually need to know—from navigating cultural norms and building friendships to advocating for themselves and caring for their mental health.

Tulip’s Promise has since expanded to six states and several other countries and grown beyond the Welcome Handbook to include a Culture Sharing Camp and Global Youth Art Contest.
