Chrysalis is Coming: Inner Arbor Trust Announces Grand Opening

The newest addition to Merriweather Park will be unveiled to the public this spring.

COLUMBIA, MD - The first structure in Merriweather Park will open to the public in April. The Chrysalis, an arched pavilion with stage, will open on April 22.

The nonprofit Inner Arbor Trust announced this week that the Chrysalis will welcome the public on Earth Day for an event called "Grounds for Celebration." It is the initial installment at Merriweather Park (previously known as Symphony Woods), which is being developed under the management of the Inner Arbor Trust to encourage more public use of the space.

The Chrysalis is made of tubular steel knit together to form a structure that houses a pavilion and stage for performances. It broke ground in September 2015.
