CLARKSVILLE, MD — High school football kicker Daniel Reyes of Clarksville felt helpless watching his good friend Christian battle cancer. But now, Reyes is using his football skills to help Christian kick cancer to the curb.

The St. John's Cadets kicker is dedicating his 2019 football season to help kids with cancer as a Kick-It Champion. Reyes is raising funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer by accepting donations for each field goal and extra point he nails during his season. All donations received will benefit childhood cancer research through Kick-It, which is powered by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).

ā€œThrough Kohl’s Kicking I was inspired by my friend Christian who was recently diagnosed with cancer and also recently had surgery because of his cancer,ā€ Reyes told Patch. ā€œHis story really motivates me to do my part for the community when it comes to raising awareness and money for the cause, which are two of my main goals."
