College Scholarships Available Now From Community Foundation
The Community Foundation of Howard County invites high school seniors heading off to a two- or four-year college or trade school to apply.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Community Foundation of Howard County, which raises, manages and distributes funds to support Howard County nonprofits, is administering scholarships this year primarily for Howard County high school seniors pursuing higher education at a two- or four-year college or trade school. Applications are available at www.cfhoco.org/scholarships and due by March 19.
Community Foundation scholarships range from $500 to $20,000 and support students with a range of experiences, interests and goals. The foundation partners with local donors who established the scholarships, each with unique eligibility requirements. Eligibility may be based on where a student went to high school, what a student’s planned major field of study will be or other factors. Some scholarships are awarded based on the selection of school guidance departments, while others are awarded based on a competitive application process. Specific guidelines and eligibility criteria are listed for each scholarship at www.cfhoco.org/scholarships.
While most scholarships support high school seniors, the Carlessia Hussein Minority Scholarship helps fund attendance to qualified camps and programs for African American, Latino and Native American boys enrolled in Howard County public middle schools. The application is due March 11.
The Community Foundation of Howard County also accepts donations for new and existing scholarship funds. For more information, donors and scholarship applicants can visit www.cfhoco.org or call 410-730-7840.
