Columbia Bank Robbery Linked To 'American League Bandit': FBI
A serial bank robber may be connected to a dozen bank robberies, including one in Columbia, the FBI says.
COLUMBIA, MD — The FBI is looking for a man suspected in 12 bank robbery cases spanning Maryland and Virginia. Columbia is one of the areas believed to have been hit by the man dubbed the "American League Bandit" because of his headwear.
Authorities allege the serial bank robber hit the PNC on Cradlerock Way in Columbia in late January. His most recent robbery is believed to have occurred June 17 at Wells Fargo in Annapolis.
In each robbery, the suspect was described as having salt and pepper facial hair, dark clothing, sunglasses and a black baseball hat with a Baltimore Orioles or New York Yankees logo and a sticker on the brim.

The American League Bandit is 6 feet tall and approximately 200 pounds, with a large build and dark complexion, according to the FBI. Authorities estimate he is 30 to 40 years old.
In each robbery, the suspect went into the bank, approached a teller and demanded money, then left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Authorities have attributed these robberies and attempted robberies to the American League Bandit, whose modus operandi is to approach a teller and demand money:
- Nov. 7, 2016: Rosedale Federal, 6708 Belair Road, Baltimore, Maryland
- Dec. 10, 2016: Columbia Bank, 67 West Aylesbury Road, Timonium, Maryland
- Jan. 26, 2017: Howard Bank, 116 Defense Highway, Annapolis, Maryland
- Jan. 28, 2017: PNC, 7200 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, Maryland
- Feb. 2, 2017: M&T Bank, 3221 Spartan Road, Olney, Maryland
- Feb. 22, 2017: Howard Bank, 116 Defense Highway, Annapolis, Maryland
- March 4, 2017: SunTrust Bank, 603 West Broad Street, Falls Church, Virginia (attempted robbery)
- March 24, 2017: Hamilton Bank, 10283 York Road, Cockeysville, Maryland (attempted robbery)
- May 16, 2017: PNC Bank, 2050 York Road, Timonium, Maryland
- June 6, 2017: Wells Fargo, 212 Maple Ave E., Vienna, Virginia
- June 15, 2017: M&T Bank, 9720 Fairfax Boulevard, Fairfax, Virginia
- June 17, 2017: Wells Fargo, 930 Bay Ridge Road, Annapolis, Maryland
