Columbia Bike to Work Day 2016: Where and When

COLUMBIA, MD – Hundreds of commuters will hit the road on two wheels Friday during the region's 19th annual Bike to Work Day.
Columbia is hosting one of 30 events in the Baltimore metro area, according to the Baltimore Metropolitan Council, which coordinates the occasion at the regional level.

Bikers are invited to meet at Whole Foods in Columbia Friday morning for giveaways and refreshments.

The annual Bike to Work Day is designed to promote bicycle safety and clean commuting, as spring is the time when ground levels of ozone rise, making the air harder to breathe; according to regional transportation authorities, cutting down on emissions from vehicles helps alleviate this problem.

The Columbia Bike to Work Day event will be from 7 to 9 a.m. on Friday, May 20, at Whole Foods, 10275 Little Patuxent Parkway.
