Columbia Carjacking Suspect Photos Released: Police

Do these people look familiar? There's a $5,000 reward for information.

The Howard County Police Department is asking for help identifying two individuals suspected in Tuesday night’s carjacking on Cedar Lane.

At 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, a 28-year-old woman was arriving home on Cedar Lane when two men forced her at gunpoint into the backseat of her vehicle and demanded she surrender her ATM card and pin, police reported.

For approximately two hours, the suspects drove her around to ATMs and withdrew money, then dropped her off in Columbia, according to the report.

The victim had none of her belongings with her but recognized the area and walked to Howard County General Hospital and notified police of the carjacking, officials reported. Police said she was not injured.

The suspects are described as two black men in their mid 20s, according to police, who provided these details:

  • One suspect, armed with a handgun, wore a dark face covering.
  • The other was wearing dark thick-rimmed glasses and winter gloves.

The carjacking appeared to be random. There was nothing indicating the victim was targeted, according to Howard County Police Department spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn.
