Columbia DogPark Expected to Open By Spring 2014

Columbia Association’s (CA) Columbia DogPark is expected to open by spring 2014, bringing the first dog park to Columbia and just the second to Howard County. An opening date will be announced in the future.

“The hope was that Columbia DogPark would be open, weather permitting, by late November,” said Dan D’Amore, director of CA’s Open Space Management Division, which will operate the park. “We know the community is as excited about the new dog park as we are. CA wants to give dogs and their people the best possible dog park, and so Columbia DogPark will be opening by spring to give time for the grounds to be in optimal condition. The turf might look nice on the surface, but it needs more time to mature and be firmly established so that it can withstand the four-legged paw traffic.”

CA is hosting a tour of Columbia DogPark — for people only — on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon.
