Columbia Man Charged with Child Pornography: Police

Maryland State Police say they raided the home of a Columbia man Wednesday along with the Department of Homeland Security.

COLUMBIA, MD — A Columbia man has been charged with distributing and possessing child pornography, according to Maryland State Police.

Adam Mecklenburg, 55, of the 9300 block of Upwoods Lane, was arrested Wednesday after Maryland State Police and the Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant at his home and found computers and external media storage containing child pornography, police said.

Mecklenburg was charged with three counts of distributing child pornography and three counts of possessing child pornography, police said.

Investigators with the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force handled the case, according to police. The state task force works with various agencies that provide resources to help protect children from exploitation facilitated by computers.

Authorities reported Mecklenburg was being taken to central booking in Howard County.
