Columbia Man Drove Trash Truck in Fatal Crash: Police
No charges were filed in the crash, which occurred in an elementary school parking lot, police said.
A Columbia man was identified as the driver of a trash truck in Silver Spring that struck and killed a pedestrian this week, police said.
Vincent Carruth, 48, of the 7100 block of Smooth Path in Columbia, remained at the scene of Wednesday's crash and was not hurt.
Investigators said the waste disposal truck was backing up in a school parking lot when it hit a man using a walker.

Collins Ellison, 66, of the 1200 block of Cresthaven Drive in Silver Spring, died from his injuries at the scene, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
The fatal crash happened just after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Cresthaven Elementary School at 1234 Cresthaven Drive in Silver Spring.

No charges have been filed in the case.
The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 240-773-6620.
