Columbia Teen in Critical Condition After Shooting: Police

BREAKING: Witnesses saw three men running from Columbia pathway where teen was shot, police said.

COLUMBIA, MD — Officials are investigating a shooting Wednesday night that left a Columbia teen critically injured. Jaron Tyrik McPherson, 18, was in critical condition at the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center Thursday morning, police reported.

McPherson was found on a pathway in the 6000 block of Majors Lane at 9:40 p.m. after a witness who lived nearby reported hearing gunfire and ran to a nearby pathway, where the victim was located, police said.

Multiple witnesses said they saw three people running from the scene. Despite K-9 and helicopter searches, authorities reported Thursday that the suspects had still not been located.

The suspects were described as three black men in their late teens or early 20s between 5'8" and 5'10" tall. One was wearing a light-colored hoodie and two were in dark t-shirts and dark pants, police said.

Authorities have not determined a motive.
