Columbia Tourist Rescued from Deadly Waters in Hawaii

A Columbia tourist reportedly had to be rescued from dangerous waters in Hawaii over the weekend.
Lifeguards drove out to the 27-year-old on a jet-ski after he could not hold onto a life preserver, the Honolulu Star Advertiser reported.
Firefighters were called at approximately 1:20 p.m. Friday for a swimmer in distress at Queenās Bath off the island of Kauai, according to Hawaii News Now.

The ābathā is a deadly tide pool, according to the Huffington Post. A sign displaying a skull and crossbones is posted nearby to alert visitors to the danger of Queenās Bath, which has claimed many fatalities in Hawaii, a state where the leading cause of death is drowning, the Seattle Times reported.
The man from Columbia, suffering from exhaustion and abrasions, was taken to a hospital in Hawaii with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to Hawaii News Now.
