Controlled Burns Happening This Week In Clarksville
Do not be alarmed if you see or smell smoke in Howard County near Clarksville. The fire department is engaging in training this week.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Howard County Fire & Rescue Services will be training Monday through Wednesday in the 13500 block of Nichols Drive in Clarksville. There will be a controlled burn Monday and Wednesday, but no controlled burn with training Tuesday.
Wednesday's controlled demolition burn at 13575 Nichols Drive will take place between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The fire likely will burn for several hours and be accompanied by heavy smoke. Crews will be on the scene to maintain control of the fire.
There will not be any road closures and this will be a small-scale operation, the department noted. Residents might see or smell smoke in the area. Some of it will be actual smoke, while some will be artificial from a smoke machine. There will be two fire engines and crews on location to maintain safety and control of the building being used for training.
