DUI Checkpoint In Savage Nets 4 Arrests: Police
Police said a total of 15 people were arrested in the past five days in targeted drunk driving patrols in Howard County.

SAVAGE, MD ā Four people were arrested in a weekend sobriety checkpoint in Howard County, police said. The checkpoint was conducted on Washington Boulevard/Route 1 in Savage.
Police said that there were 817 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, which was set up overnight Saturday between Howard Street and Gorman Road on Route 1. State troopers and county police provided information to motorists about the dangers of impaired driving.
Four people were arrested at the checkpoint and charged with driving under the influence, police said:

- Terry Eugene Trafton, 49, of College Park
- Fernando Pavarin, 38, of Laurel
- Rolando Kente Miller, 40, of Laurel
- Carlos Lui Gutierrez-Castillo, 39, of Laurel
This was the second initiative to combat impaired driving this week in Howard County. Police conducted a saturation patrol the night before Thanksgiving that netted 11 arrests.

Increased patrols will continue throughout the holiday season to keep roads safe, the Howard County Police Department advised.
