Failed Bank Robbery on Cradlerock Way: Columbia Crime

Harpers Choice assault, three residential burglaries and more crimes were reported to the Howard County Police Department recently.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Columbia. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

A man tried unsuccessfully to rob the PNC Bank in the 7200 block of Cradlerock Way. Police said that at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 28, the suspect went into the bank, approached the teller, acted like he had a weapon and demanded money. When the teller did not take his order, the suspect left and nothing was stolen. He was described as a 5'7" to 5'8" black man between 30 and 40 years old with his face partly covered.

Two men assaulted someone in the 11200 block of Green Dragon Court at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 29. Two white men came into the residence through an unlocked front door and assaulted the victim. One of the suspects had a small knife. The duo left without taking anything. There were not any serious injuries from the assault. The suspects were described as follows:

  • 30-40-year-old white man who is 6’2” tall, 200-250 pounds, wearing blue jeans, a black jacket, black hat, black shoes and black gloves
  • 16-19-year-old white man who is 5'7" to 5'9" tall, 140 to 160 pounds, wearing black sweatpants, black hoodie and black shoes

Jewelry, electronics and clothing were taken in a burglary in the 8900 block of Tamar Drive. The burglar(s) got into the residence through a sliding patio door. The crime was reported before 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 30.

Cash, coins and checkbooks were stolen from the 6900 block of Newberry Drive. The residence was burglarized when someone pried a window between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 30.

Jewelry and electronics were stolen from the 5700 block of Stevens Forest Road, where a door was unlocked. The burglary was reported at 2:59 a.m. on Jan. 29.

A black Honda Pilot was reported stolen from the 8900 block of Footed Ridge around 7 a.m. on Jan. 30.
