Fire At Columbia Townhouse Is Under Control: Officials

COLUMBIA, MD — Crews were called to a kitchen fire in Columbia that had spread from the home Friday afternoon, officials said.

The fire in the 9100 block of Helaine Hamlet Way broke out in the kitchen of a townhouse, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, which reported the flames extended beyond the structure.

By 12:45 p.m., firefighters reported the blaze was under control.
