HoCo Fire Department Issues Warning As Brush Fires Sparked In Road Median Along Route 32
The Howard County Fire and Rescue Department issued a reminder to residents after putting out several brush fires in the median of Route 32.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Firefighters put out numerous brush fires Monday in Howard County, including two fires with buildings nearby.
The majority of the fires were started in the median along Route 32, primarily in the area between I-95 and Route 29, the department said.
"Given the weather we’re currently seeing here in the county, it’s important to be aware of activities that can start a brush fire. Some things to remember: properly dispose of cigarettes in an ashtray or container of sand (not out a car window or in a flower pot or mulch bed), check your vehicle for dragging metal that creates sparks and avoid using power tools that spark near dry vegetation," the Howard County Fire and Rescue Department stated.
