Firefighters Called to Howard County General Hospital
Smoke was reported in a hospital room at Howard County General on Wednesday, officials said.
COLUMBIA, MD — More first responders than usual were at Howard County General Hospital Wednesday afternoon, after authorities received word of smoke in a room.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services reported that its personnel had been dispatched to investigate the incident.
Officials determined that a burnt HVAC belt caused the smoke.

All but two crews were returning to service since the source had been identified, fire and rescue officials said.
