Gas Station Robber Returns to Scene on Dobbin Road: Police

Pedestrians were held up on Twin Rivers Road, Grotto Pizza was burglarized and other crimes were reported in Columbia this week.

COLUMBIA, MD — A man who robbed a Columbia gas station later returned to the scene of the crime, according to police.

At 8:39 a.m. on Christmas Day, the man walked behind the counter at the Crown gas station in the 6300 block of Dobbin Road, where he stole cash from a safe and left, police allege.

At 6:54 p.m., police said the man came back with a handgun and threatened the employee plus two other people in the store. He walked behind the counter but left without stealing anything else, officials reported.

The suspect was described as a white man with a medium to heavy build who was 30 to 40 years old and 6' tall. He was wearing a black hooded jacket at the time, police said.

Pedestrians robbed: A teen said he and his friend were held up at gunpoint while walking in the 10300 block of Twin Rivers Road at 7:22 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The suspects assaulted one of the victims, took their phones and left. The suspects were described as two black men in the 20s wearing black clothing.

Three burglaries

Grotto's Pizza was burglarized, reported at 10:23 a.m. on Christmas Eve. Cash was stolen from the business in the 7000 block of Minstrel Way. There were no signs of forced entry.

A burglary was reported in the 8600 block of Hayshed Lane at 10:23 a.m. on Christmas Eve.

A cellphone, gloves and cash were stolen from a residence in the 5100 block of Harpers Farm Road between Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 overnight. The residence was unlocked.

Vehicle thefts

Someone attempted to steal a 1996 Dodge Dakota from the 8700 block of Snowden River Parkway, reported at 6:57 p.m. on Dec. 22.

A 2011 silver Chevy Malibu was stolen from the 9300 block of Reader Lane before 9 p.m. on Dec. 24. It has since been recovered.
